Scholarships
Since its founding in 1820, Lancaster Masonic Lodge has been actively invested in the education of the youth of Lancaster. The first institution of higher learning – the Lancaster Academy – was founded by Freemasons in 1820, and members of the Lodge were instrumental in establishing Lancaster’s public school system in the early 1800s as well. The first public library in Lancaster was organized in 1834 by a group of men comprised mostly of Freemasons.
Lancaster Masonic Lodge offers two to three scholarships every year to high school seniors who are active in service to the community. These young men and women are the future leaders of our community. Scholarship amounts range between five hundred to one thousand dollars, depending on the number of applications received.
